The final episode is set to air in May. The show's ratings have fallen considerably since its 2004 debut and especially after Lisa Edelstein, who played the boss and a love interest of Laurie's title character, left the series last spring.
"While it's with much regret, and a lump in our throats, we respect the decision Hugh, David and Katie have made," FOX President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Wednesday, February 8.

There are only so many ailments out there, and doing them on the same ailments just wouldn't work... they should still do one last one where it is lupus.

Yeah, the show played out its string.
Too bad, though. I still enjoyed checking out the episodes.

That is a running gag at our house...after the first differential diagnosis, someone always says...it's never an autoimmune disease!
Maybe House can be diagnosed with a career ending autoimmune disease

I think that House trying to solve his own case would be one way to go. But it looks as though they are going to have him go back down the road of addiction. He's popping the pills again.
I think they blew it when they jettisoned Cuddy. They should have allowed House to grow. He's awfully smart and awfully smart people can change.
Instead, they have created a monster who is a lot like a sociopath when he is on drugs and a lot like a sociopath when he is off drugs. They dabbled with the idea that deep down inside there was a compassionate man who was just too proud to let is show, but they jettisoned that too. What we are left with is someone it is really hard to justify liking at all.
I'm still a sucker for the show, but I don't watch it every week. I catch up with episodes on my Amazon Kindle now, or on Hulu.
